Life as Water In The Ocean

“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine”

The quote above by Bruce Lee suddenly come up in my head when I’m thinking about expectation. We live in a world full of expectations. From our parents, family, friends, religion, even society. And every each of them must have a different expectations of you.

Then I imagine myself live as water in the ocean.

As water in the ocean, we get so many expectations from everyone; the fisherman, surfers, divers, people on the beach, all the creatures under the water, even all the people on the higher ground are expecting on us.

The fishes under the water are wishing that the water have a lil bit current so all the plankton below would go up and they can easily eat. But the divers wishing for no current so it will make easier for them to swim. The fishermen are hoping that there is no strong wind so they can fishing easily. But the wind come strong creates big swell and you, as water, can not do anything to stop the wind.

People on the ground are hoping we are remain in our place. But the earthquake come, you can not control yourself and now the Tsunami are created. And now you become a deadly killing machine and people blame you for that.

But in the other hand, people still need you. Without you, the sun can not create clouds full of water molecular that later become rain. Rain that people need for their crops or without it all the forest would gone.

In the end, you as water in the ocean, know that somebody out there understand you, like you no matter what, know what you’re capable of is depends on the situation. You’re changing yourself for a reason. And you can’t live only on the fishermen expectation, or divers, surfers, and fishes. You have to be yourself. Live in the moment.

Same here as a human life.We can not live on other people expectation. The only person know your capability is yourself. We only live once and it would be a waste of time if you can’t live as your truest self. Life to the fullest.
